Policy details

Returns, replacements, and refunds

Replace all provisional language with the approved commercial and legal policy before publication.

Eligible physical-product returns

A physical product may be eligible for return when the request is made within the approved return period and the product meets the required condition.

The final policy should state whether an eligible item must be unused, unread, unmarked, unopened, and returned with its original packaging or included materials.

Proof of purchase and prior return authorization may be required.

Required before launch

Insert the approved return period and exact condition requirements. Do not leave them implied.

Items that may not be returnable

Subject to applicable law and the final approved policy, exclusions may include:

  • Personalized or made-to-order products
  • Signed products identified as final sale
  • Digital downloads after delivery or access
  • Gift cards
  • Products damaged after delivery
  • Items missing original components
  • Clearance or final-sale products
  • Unauthorized returns

Do not apply a blanket exclusion where local consumer law gives the customer a mandatory right or remedy.

Damaged, incorrect, or missing items

Damaged item

Keep the product and packaging. Submit the order number, a description of the damage, and clear photographs when requested.

Incorrect item

Identify the product ordered and the product received. Wait for instructions before returning the incorrect item.

Missing item

Review the packing information and check whether the order was divided into more than one shipment before contacting support.

Package damage

Photograph the outer package and shipping label when useful. Do not discard packaging until the support review is complete.

After review, an available remedy may include replacement, refund, store credit, carrier investigation, or another appropriate resolution.

The specific remedy should not be guaranteed before the order and evidence have been reviewed.

Order changes and cancellations

Contact Customer Support as soon as possible when an order must be changed or canceled.

CDJ Books may be unable to modify or cancel an order after payment review, fulfillment, label creation, carrier transfer, or digital delivery has begun.

Submitting a cancellation request does not by itself confirm that the order has been canceled.

Customers should not place a duplicate replacement order until the status of the first order is confirmed.

Return authorization, packaging, and shipping

When a return is approved, CDJ Books should provide the return destination and any reference or authorization number required.

Products should be packed securely to prevent damage in return transit. Customers may be asked to retain proof of shipment and use a trackable service.

The final policy must clearly state who pays return shipping in cases involving:

  • A customer preference or change of mind
  • A damaged product
  • An incorrect product
  • A fulfillment error
  • A refused or unclaimed shipment
  • An incorrect delivery address

Do not instruct customers to return products to the address printed on a parcel unless that address is the approved return location.

Inspection, approval, and refunds

Returned products may be inspected to confirm identity, condition, completeness, and compliance with the approved return instructions.

The customer should receive notice when a return is approved, rejected, or requires additional information.

An approved refund should generally be issued through the applicable original payment route unless another lawful method is required or agreed.

The time for a refund to appear may depend on the payment gateway, bank, card issuer, or other financial institution after CDJ Books initiates it.

Clarify before publication

State whether original shipping charges, expedited charges, customs costs, and return-shipping fees are refundable.

Ebooks, audiobooks, and other digital products

Digital products require a separate refund and access policy reflecting how delivery, downloading, streaming, licensing, and customer consent operate.

A customer experiencing a technical access problem should contact support before the issue is treated as a refund request.

The support team may need to verify the order, account, device, file, browser, download history, or delivery status without requesting passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.

Do not publish digital-product restrictions until ebooks, audiobooks, or other downloadable products are actually offered and their checkout workflow has been reviewed.

International orders and customs charges

International returns may involve additional carrier charges, customs documentation, import procedures, taxes, duties, or brokerage fees.

The final policy must explain whether these amounts can be refunded and who is responsible for return shipping and customs handling.

A shipment refused because of customs charges or left unclaimed may be treated differently from a damaged or incorrectly fulfilled order.

Contact Customer Support before returning an international shipment.

Returned to sender

When a shipment comes back before delivery

A package may be returned because of an incorrect or incomplete address, refusal, failed delivery attempts, unpaid customs charges, or failure to collect the parcel.

CDJ Books should review the carrier record, product condition, customer address, shipping charges, and applicable policy before confirming reshipment or refund.

Additional shipping charges may apply to an approved reshipment, depending on the cause and applicable law.

Schools, libraries, and groups

Larger orders may require separate return terms

Classroom sets, library orders, wholesale quantities, bundles, and other large orders may require written approval and terms different from standard consumer orders.

Review quantity, condition, fulfillment, shipping, payment, and return expectations before placing a time-sensitive group order.
